We are an old world pottery in the modern day. Established in 2012, we began our journey of creating a community of artisans that have a deep love for simple, honest, and beautiful pottery. Today, we offer a lifestyle that is rooted in the pursuit of authenticity, integrity, and joyful living.

Whether designing, potting, or catching the next wave – James takes inspiration from each day and savors the beauty of slow, authentic living. “At the time I didn’t realize I’d become a pioneer in the handmade pottery business. Our slower, authentic approach to manufacturing not only honors the natural material, it provides a livelihood for the American craftsman. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished over the last decade.”

Today we craft a wide selection of artisan furniture and hand-made gifts in the finest hardwoods and burls native to this area. For us as woodworkers, first and foremost is the quality and beauty of the wood we use. Visit us here at the farm, on the web at our online store, or in select galleries in New England and beyond to see our Salad Bowls turned from solid blocks of uniquely grained Cherry, our Carriers with intricately figured Birdseye Maple, our single plank Cutting/Serving boards made from figured woods, our Food Serving Utensils carved in Cherry Heartwood, and of course our one-of-a-kind and custom furniture. We use woods which we know have been harvested in a responsible, sustainable manner. Our functional designs are carefully fashioned using time-proven methods, producing items that can be enjoyed and used for generations.

Our area has a long history in the wood products industry. From the mills built by the early settlers to the furniture and novelty factories of the 1900’s. It is only fitting that we combine history and local resources to continue the tradition.

Mike Rainville first came to woodworking as a hobby in the 1970’s while he was in school. Working out of his parents’ basement with scraps from his grandfather’s carpentry projects, he duplicated household items, things like spool holders and cribbage boards. Before long, friends and neighbors were asking Mike to make things and by 1979, he started selling wholesale. Local craft fairs also provided income and experience.

Since the beginning, Simon’s life has centered around functional, sophisticated design. Growing up in Ireland with a family of artisans, attention to detail and aesthetics were part of his everyday experience. At age 16, Simon began his craft as an apprentice at his father’s pottery studio. From there, he went on to work with notable glassmakers all over Europe before opening his namesake studio. Inspired by centuries-old Georgian glassmaking techniques and using the finest natural materials, Simon set out to create designs that bring pleasure and inspiration with every use, every day.
