Vermont’s Mad River Valley may be best known for its ski slopes and scenic trails, but when the snow melts and the grass greens up, something equally unforgettable comes into view: the Sugarbush Golf Course.
Tucked into the slopes of Lincoln Peak and surrounded by the Green Mountains, this course is more than just a pretty place to tee off. It’s a thoughtfully designed experience that blends sport with scenery, and with nearby Vermont lodging, it’s easy to turn your tee time into a full-on getaway. If you’re looking for one of the best Vermont golf courses, Sugarbush Resort Golf Club checks every box, from its championship design to relaxed mountain-town charm.
Course Info & What to Expect
New to Sugarbush? Here’s what to know before you tee off. This par-70 (men) / par-72 (women) course stretches just over 6,500 yards, with a mix of long fairways, elevated tee shots, and technical turns that keep the game interesting. Golf carts are available, but many guests opt to walk, soaking in the mountain views at their own pace. The dress code is golf casual, and soft spikes are the standard.
Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the Sugarbush Golf Course is as challenging as it is beautiful. The 18-hole layout plays across rolling hills, meadows, and forest edges, showcasing Jones’ philosophy of working with the land, not against it. Each hole tells its own story, with dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views that could distract even the most focused player.
You’ll encounter wide fairways, clever bunkers, and some of the best-kept greens in the region. Whether you’re here to refine your game or just enjoy the fresh mountain air, Sugarbush invites you to take your time and appreciate the setting.
