The benches are back out. The flowers are blooming along Main Street. Trails are filling with hikers, rivers are moving steadily again, and outdoor dining returns to sidewalks, patios, and decks across town. June in Bennington Vermont feels like the true beginning of summer in Southern Vermont.
If you notice Downtown looking especially colorful this time of year, thank Bennington in Bloom, the community effort that oversees the installation and seasonal maintenance of hanging baskets, urns, and vibrant ground plantings throughout the downtown district. Alongside seasonal flowers, permanent additions like Champlain roses continue to brighten gateways and intersections throughout town.
As the days grow longer, Bennington’s outdoor season comes alive through public art, live music, festivals, recreation, dining, and community events happening across Downtown, North Bennington, and beyond.
Outdoor Art Season Arrives

The last week of June marks one of Bennington’s most anticipated annual traditions: Public Art Install Week, led by the North Bennington Outdoor Sculpture Show (NBOSS).
Now entering its 29th year, NBOSS has grown from a humble outdoor sculpture display in the Village of North Bennington into a town-wide public art exhibition stretching across multiple destinations. In 2026, visitors will find more than 40 sculptures throughout North Bennington, over 20 works installed at Bennington Museum, and 14 sculptures lining Downtown Bennington’s Riverwalk.
The Opening Reception takes place Saturday, June 27, from 4–8 p.m., welcoming artists, visitors, and the community together to celebrate another year of accessible public art in Southern Vermont. The outdoor party features live music by James Levin, with Beard & Glasses headlining. There will also be free hot dogs and merchandise for sale in support of the fundraiser.
Public art continues beyond sculpture installations this summer. Downtown Bennington’s street banners honoring the upcoming America 250 commemorations are now installed throughout Main Street. The project is a collaboration between Southwest Tech students, the Town of Bennington, and the Better Bennington Corporation, blending student creativity with local history and placemaking.

New Creative Spaces: Mill Store 1865 Opens June 19

Bennington’s creative community continues to grow with the opening of Mill Store 1865 on June 19.
Located inside a renovated historic mill building, Mill Store 1865 is a mixed-use art gallery, vintage home showroom, and gift shop created by Vance Chatel. The space blends art, design, antiques, workshops, and Vermont creativity under one roof.
“After 12 years, I closed my BnB and sold the farm to follow a new dream… Renovating a Victorian-era mill store in southern Vermont,” said Chatel. “Originally the mill store for the workers of the historic Bennington Mill, a long-abandoned architectural gem is getting another life as Mill Store 1865.”
The new retail business also plans to host workshops in fine and decorative arts while creating a gathering place for artists, collectors, and visitors alike.

Pride, Cars & Community Events

Saturday, June 27 will also bring Downtown Bennington’s Pride Parade and Block Party from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., celebrating inclusivity, creativity, and community spirit in the heart of town.
Earlier in the month, Hemmings Cruise-Ins and Thursday Night Live return on Thursday, June 18 from 5–8 p.m., transforming Main Street into a showcase of classic, collectible, antique, and custom vehicles.
Presented through a collaboration between Hemmings Motor News and the Better Bennington Corporation, the monthly series closes Main Street to traffic and fills Downtown with live music, food, storefront activity, and hundreds of visitors throughout the summer.
The June live music lineup features The Olson Brothers at Lucky’s stage. The Bennington-based group delivers an R&B-inspired rock sound rooted in classic musicianship and live performance energy.
